ver clay. Terreria creates a space which can be simultaneously new and old, urban and rustic. Terreria is part modular furniture and part Italian farmhouse window looking out over the countryside. The single elements can be assembled to produce an infinite number of configurations and exploit the many potentials of ceramic: its colours and hues and the feel to the touch, from the varied coarseness of terracotta to the smoothness of the varnishes in the various different shades on offer. It is an open system, and the flexibility to assemble different combinations means that no single design or look is ever quite the same. Terracotta components, available in different types of coloured clay, including glazed porcelain stoneware, and in four different geometric configurations. Blocks are 30 cm.deep, 40 cm. high and vary in width between 25 and 35 cm. To assemble, the single components are stacked ontop of each other. The maximum height for a self-supporting ” bookcase “without wall-mounting is 200 cm. while there is no width limit. The weight of the single components is between 5 and 7 kgs; thus each row weighs approximately 64 kgs per linear metre. Between 5 and 7 components are needed per square metre. There are an infinite number of different configurations. Features Assembly simply involves positioning single blocks on top of eachother, using bi-adhesive spacers or a suitable silicone adhesive between each component. While the elements can be configured as desired, attention must be paid to stability. To ensure that the bookcase is stable the blocks should not be aligned directly on top of each other but laid like brick work with each single component resting on two lower blocks. Should the configuration chosen include a space, the size of the space must not exceed the width of a single block, so no larger than 17 cm. The blocks can also beused upside down given that the angle of the sides is the same for eachpiece to make fitting them together easier. The blocks must be joined together, and for even greater safety, fixed to the floor or wall if they areas joining. Blocks can be joined using the bi-adhesive spacers supplied orusing a suitable silicone adhesive or tile adhesive.
